Back to Top 2. The colon: can you give me a basic description, please. The colon, or large intestine, is the end portion of the human digestive tract (food carrying passageway extending from mouth to anus). The colon is approximately 5 to 5 1/2 feet. Its major junctions are to eliminate waste and to conserve water. Also, there are bacteria living in the colon which synthesize valuable nutrients such as vitamins “K” and portions of the “B” complex. Colonics effectively eliminate large quantities of toxic waste, affecting the condition of the entire body.
Back to Top 3. What’s the Procedure? The part about insertion — will it hurt?
And is there re usage of the tubes and speculum? Tubes and speculums are 100% disposable. Each client gets a kit and it is disposed of after the session. The insertion is very simple: the rounded tip of the speculum is very well lubricated. The insertion can absolutely be done by the client. Most prefer not. Often, the client will begin the procedure and I will gently assist in correct placement and connection of the outflow tubing. The speculum is only inserted approximately 1 1/2 inch into the rectum. Most of the adjustment is simply out of not having had the procedure previously.
Back to Top 4. Why Should I Be Concerned About Cleaning My Colon? The colon has been referred to as the sewer system of the body. It is the place where we store the waste material that most of us would rather not think about and most of us don’t until our health becomes poor due to accumulated congestion in the bowel. This waste material, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time, (i.e. impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucuous, parasites, worms, etc.), poses several problems. First this material is quite toxic (poisonous). These poisons can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Secondly, impacted materials impair the colon’s ability to assimilate minerals and bacteria-produced vitamins. Finally, a buildup of material on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, constipation and the results of these disorders.
Back to Top 5. What Symptoms might I experience if I had a buildup of toxic material in my colon? This condition is prevalent in all civilized societies, and particularly in America. Common signs and symptoms may include: Foul breath, body odors; unhealthy skin: blemishes, acne, sallow complexion; feeling and looking older; swollen joints, neuritis and neuralgia (aches and pains throughout the body); eyes become dull, or dark circles under eyes; thinking becomes sluggish, confusion, mind fog, loss of memory, difficulty concentrating; fatigue; headaches; irritability, anxiety, nervousness; abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhea, belching or flatulence; nausea; abdominal discomfort: protruding, tender or rigid abdomen; poor posture; insomnia, brittle hair and nails; coated tongue; cold hands and feet; lower back pain, sciatic pain; menstrual challenges; high or low blood pressure; lack of interest in work or life; overweight or obese; underweight, poor appetite. To mention a few. As you can see, intestinal toxicity is part and parcel of many people’s everyday experience.
Back to Top 6. What is auto-intoxication? When toxins are being produced faster than they can be eliminated, they get picked up by the blood and circulate. This creates a condition know as Autointoxication, literally self-poisoning. The root cause of auto-intoxication is faulty elimination. Common symptoms of excess toxins include: constipation, excess weight, bloating, gas, headaches, chronic sinus problems, infections, poor memory, inability to concentrate, insomnia, menstrual problems, prostate enlargement (prostatitus), depression, skin eruptions, yeast infections, fatigue and a host of other health challenges.
Back to Top 7. What about Sanitation and type of Equipment? Sanitation: Modern colon hydrotherapy equipment is manufactured through compliance with strict FDA guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. I use sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment and 100% disposable single-use tubing and speculums. The equipment, a Dotolo Toxigen, is a closed system and is FDA Registered Equipment. It features temperature controlled water mixing and back flow prevention valves, pressure and temperature sensors, and a built-in chemical sanitizing unit and/or water purification unit.
Back to Top 8. What’s the actual treatment like. Isn’t it kind of ‘unnatural’? When this often asked question is broached, I love to playfully remind a client: “…and drilling the teeth, this is natural?” The teeth are the most logical analogy when discussing the colon, because it is the direct opposite end of the digestive track. The teeth are drilled, pulled out, filled, nerves extracted, brushed, cleaned, flossed… and the poor colon is barely given a nod of desperately needed attention. Water therapy, unnatural indeed! If truth be told, it is simply the taboo of addressing, “down there”, that unspeakable area of the body. Even for health purposes, lips are sealed. “There are alligators in the sewers of New York” was a song a while back, but no such accolades for the sewer of the body. Let us become wiser, quickly. A little common sense, please!
Back to Top 9. Will a Colon Hydrotherapy Treatment be Painful? It is a drug free treatment in which you are lying comfortably on a massage table, propped up so you can view (as in a lab) and learn from what is released. You are covered completely at all times. Whether a client is modest or not, they are respectfully draped. Filling with water: I always give the client a “test run” so that they may get a “very brief” idea of how it feels to have water enter the colon. I am an extremely CONSERVATIVE facilitator. I like the water to enter in the slowest speed possible. The client is in control at all times of how much water enters the body, and is free to say the magic word ‘stop’ or ‘release’, so forth. If a client is new to colon hydrotherapy, often there is a bit of gas in the beginning stages of the session, often a bit of crampiness. This is all good. The body is doing what it has to do in order to soften, and finally release debris which has accumulated over time. I spend a lot of time explaining at great length to the client, exactly what is happening and why. There is great comfort in knowing the whys and wherefores. People who deal with constipation often have little muscle response in the beginning. The GREAT news is that colon hydrotherapy is like taking the colon to the gym. It makes the muscles work. Usually, painful experiences are the result of resistance and tension. That can be from impaction, a buildup over a long period of time, a very sluggish colon. But a professional therapist is skilled at minimizing the discomfort and putting you at ease, guiding you through the journey. Often, the first session might be a little challenging, but as the work continues, and one begins to experience the rewards of letting go, to begin experiencing feelings of well being, and an amazement at the unaccustomed sensations of lightness, cleanness, and clarity. Sometimes during a colonic, the colon muscles will contract suddenly expelling liquid and waste into the rectum. This may feel like cramping or gas, and may create a feeling of urgency to empty the rectum. Such episodes, are brief and easily tolerated.
Back to Top 10. Is there anything I need to do to get ready for a colonic? I recommend to my clients not having solid foods for three hours prior to the session, and no liquids for one hour prior. This is the only significant recommendation. It is always a good idea to eat as well as you presently know how, and include a lot of water during the day (never with meals). One’s cumulative condition is not a matter of what you have been doing over the past week (unless you have been cleansing already), but what your cumulative and habitual mode of nutrition bring to the table. Not to worry, Rejuvenation is 100% doable.
Back to Top 11. How much comes out in a session; how far up can water get? Water can travel the entire length of the colon and usually does. It is not the distance, but the build up and how long it takes to soften/loosen alas, HYDRATE the compacted, impacted material within. This is about the state of your body when you come for treatment.
Some think the small intestine is also cleansed with a colonic. This is inaccurate. We would not want that to happen. It is a very large area — 25 feet, in fact, where digestion and absorption takes place. Yes, it too, needs cleansing, and that happens with herbs and with a cleansing, eliminative, alkaline diet. Never underestimate common sense. Proper Diet is primary, basic, required. Don’t be Arranging deck chairs on the Titanic and dancing around the issue. Blessings to You!
Back to Top 12. Will one colonic completely ‘clean me out’? My favorite question. I hope everyone reads the response. Almost never. It has been my experience that people often walk in with many misconceptions: one not the least of which is the notion that one session is going to ‘clean me out’!
Most of us have a considerable amount of impacted feces in our colon. This is hardened, rubbery or leathery like material. Substantial work must be done to remove it. Second, there is a learning process involved in receiving colonics. As you become more aware of what is going on in your abdomen, and as your body learns to allow the cleansing experience, you are better able to enter into that process, and therefore more material is released. One colonic will remove some of the stagnant waste in the colon. The second and subsequent colonics will remove more. How many you may wish to have will depend upon your personal objectives.
There is nothing wrong with the question. It is startling, I suppose, because of it’s significance. It’s the equivalent of going to the dentist for the first time in your life when you are 25 or 45 or 65, whatever, and asking if one visit will take care of all your dental needs. It is my goal to educate you. This is key to radiant health.
Back to Top 13. How will I know when the colon is empty? It will probably never be completely empty, as it is an organ in continuous use. As more of the old, impacted material is released you will actually feel the water in the colon without any sense of obstruction. The objective ought not to be an empty colon, but rather a well functioning colon.
Back to Top 14. How often is Colon Hydrotherapy Necessary? This has to do with individual needs and individual commitment. The two are not necessarily a match. In the past, I have always ‘under’ recommended, and I believe, to the client’s detriment. I was always primarily looking out for their purses and secondarily looking out for their health. When I realized what I was doing, I quickly understood I was underestimating their power to create the means to do what was necessary to take care of themselves. Besides, Your Radiant Health is my Station. That and nothing else. Ever since, I have been speaking the Truth.
In fact, if it is a person’s first time in the office, or the first time with Colon Hydrotherapy ever , to recommend any less than a series of three would be irresponsible. More than likely, a series of between 6 to 12 would be more appropriate. I carefully assess based on what I see and professionally assess. To have 12 per year is simply health maintenance. And a person can do this is various creative ways and combinations.
For example: one might choose to do my ‘Queen of all cleanses’ with herbs and from 6 to 10 colon hydrotherapy sessions and a Personalized Diet over a period of 4 to 6 weeks.
One might choose to do several mini-cleanses per year utilizing 3 or 4 colonics and an alkaline cleansing diet and a little fasting.
People become very creative in taking care of themselves. And over time, they hardwire neurons in the brain; pathways in the brain; patterns in the brain, that all lead to very very easy maintenance of magnificent Radian Health with great ease. Allow me to help guide you to this outrageous independence.
Back to Top 15. How many sessions will I need? I hear one needs to “take a series.” What does that mean and is it true? Absolutely true. I cannot stress this enough.
Although the number of colon hydrotherapy sessions desired will depend on the individual’s personal objectives. It’s important to be aware of your objective when working with a colon therapist. For example, if your objective is to quickly recover from the flu, or lower a fever, of eliminate a lower backache or headache, possibly one or two colonics may be all that is needed.
However, perhaps your objective is to overcome a lifelong habit of constipation, to learn to create multiple daily bowel movements and to achieve radiant health. To do this may require, in addition to possible dietary, exercise and attitudinal changes, regular colonics for some time. How many depends on the condition o your body and how well it responds to treatment
Having colonics regularly for a while, such as daily, weekly or multiple times per week, or what is referred to as a “series”. I, as well as many therapists believe that to obtain results of lasting benefit, a series of colonics must be undertaken. Again, this can only be properly considered once an objective has been identified.
Colon hydrotherapy could wisely be used as part of any regular maintenance program.
Back to Top 16. Why not use enemas or laxatives instead? Enemas might be useful for emptying the rectum – the lowest 8 to 11 inches of the colon. Usually, one or two quarts of water are used to do that. If used excessively, it will weaken the colon and make the colon more dependent. Suppositories, laxatives and the like, are formulated to undo the effects of temporary surface constipation, and like the enema, work in a more superficial capacity. These, if used regularly, may also create a dependancy and/or cease to be effective in assisting evacuation even in a small way. Colon Hydrotherapy, without question is the Rolls Royce of colon cleansing
Back to Top 17. What makes a colonic so special? In a 50 minute session as much as 45 gallons of water is used to gently flush the colon. Through appropriate use of massage, pressure points, breathing, suggestion, etc., the colon hydrotherapist is able to work loose and eliminate far more toxic waste than any other short-term technique. Having an experienced colon therapist available as an assistant can be likened to having a professional mechanic repair your auto’s engine. The second, and subsequent sessions, will remove more. How many you may wish to have will depend upon your personal objectives.
Back to Top 18. Is it embarrassing to get a colonic? No, you will fully maintain your personal dignity. You will be in a private room with only your therapist, that is I, Grace. I fully appreciate the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and will help you feel at ease. Your emotions will be acknowledged and honored. After the gentle insertion of the speculum into the rectum, you are completely covered. Separate inflow and outflow tubes carry clean water in and waste materials out in a mildly pressured system. The mess and odor sometimes present during an enema simply does not exist with a colonic. During the session, you will be wearing a hospital gown and you will be draped with sheets, and a light blanket should you require it. My clients appreciate the warmth of a heating pad in cooler weather. Again, your dignity is always maintained.
Back to Top 19. How long does a session take? The first session at my center is 90 minutes. I learn about your complete health background, answer all of your questions, and assess your goals. The session on the water is approximately 50 minutes. All is variable according to how the session is proceeding for you. My rule of thumb is: “No torture allowed!” Often times clients will try to push themselves, for example, to take in too much water. There is absolutely no need to push yourself to levels of unnecessary discomfort. Water is a natural force of nature. This is a natural procedure. It is a beautiful lesson in allowing and trusting this truly magnificent Natural Healing process to do it’s thing natural & drug free. What a concept.
Back to Top 20. Are colonics habit forming, addictive? Can I become dependent?Actually, one of the better features of a colonic is that it can be used to tone the colon muscle so that the colon does not perform sluggishly. Longevity Lady says it’s ‘taking your colon to the gym’. That muscle gets exercised. It works!
Some colons have muscle tone that is practically defunct. How I would know that is that the individual literally ‘feels nothing’ during the session. This means there is a good deal of work ahead. But ‘Rejuvenation’ is the title of my business. I am a beliver in Rejuvenation. I have seen it happen scores and scores of times. Colon hydrotherapy along with proper diet and exercise can strengthen the colon. The colon may still remain on the ‘slow’ side, but it never never interferes with Radiant Health if the client is willing to do what it takes.
Colonics do nothing but strengthen, reinvigorate, and rejuvenate the colon. And your colon will thank you and thank you with energy and vitality.
Back to Top 21. Are colonics dangerous in any way? Being an essentially natural process, there is virtually no danger with a colonic. When filling out forms in an initial session, there are lists of contra-indications. Anyone who fits into these categories will not be a candidate for a session. Our intent is to provide a safe and healthy service so that you do not have to worry.
Modern colon hydrotherapy equipment is manufactured through compliance with strict FDA guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. The FDA-registered equipment features temperature controlled water mixing and back flow prevention valves, pressure and temperature sensors, and a built-in chemical sanitizing unit and/or water purification unit. Disposable single-use rectal tubes, and speculums are highly recommended.
Back to Top 22. Should I consult my doctor before my first session? If you have any health issues that give you pause regarding the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy, then yes, consult your physician. If you have any of the contraindications that I have listed, consult your physician.
Back to Top 23. Should I Fast before my Colon Hydrotherapy session? For the most part, I would say if it is your first time having a session, not only is it not necessary, I do not recommend it. Why? In as little detail as possible, it is far better for a person to begin to emphasize a lifestyle way of eating rather that give fasting so much importance. Fasting can be magnificent, utterly awakening. However, it will never, never take precedence over what your are doing with your daily diet. So, in short, eat the very best you know how. Include as much raw foods as you are comfortable with at the moment, let go of dairy, processed foods, sugar, caffine, sodas, and so forth. Drink plenty of water. If you cannot do all of this, then do the best you can. We’ll begin from there.
Back to Top 24. Will colon hydrotherapy help me if I do a Fast? Not only will it help, it is essential. In brief, many people make the mistake of not doing colonics or enemas or both during fasting. This is extremely unhealthy, even detrimental. Fasting is an extreme means of dumping toxins into the bloodstream in great quantities. One simply must flush otherwise the detox symptoms can become extreme. The body will also begin to try to reabsorb waste material from the colon. Proceed with caution. Be wise. To gain higher consciousness begins with a little common sense and a little lower consciousness wisdom. Fasting is NOT the be-all and end-all. It is for those who have accumulated a little bit of daily dietary wisdom. This could be you!
Back to Top 25. Will I experience any negative effects after a colonic? Can I go on with regular activities? When a new client enters my office, even after I read their profile, I tell them that I might be able to make an educated ‘guess’ based on my experience, but essentially they are an unknown quantity. Sometimes I am very surprised by what I find. Quick example: if a person has been constipated for years, I might make an assessment that they have an atonic/slow colon with little perstalsis. I can think of a client who had an extremely strong perstaltic action with this profile. So again: if I have not worked with you, you are an unknown quantity.
Having said that: most clients have a colonic and easily proceed with their day. Not a problem to go to work, go to the gym, do any daily routine.
Sometimes, with very constipated persons, they leave the office with a lot of water having soaked into the debris within their colon, and not yet being able to release it. More likely than not, they will have a release between the time they leave the office and the next day. In any case, they would definitely be a candidate for returning for a series, and very, very likely a nutritional consultation and personalized diet.
Back to Top 26. I read that colonics wash out the good bacteria, the intestinal flora? What about taking probiotics? A colonic can’t wash out the good bacteria, because more likely than not, there is no good bacteria able to survive. Solution: clean the colon of the garbage and enable the body to assist in creating it’s own flora.
Based on how your body operates, I may recommend digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc. But the probiotics would be to enhance the balance of good flora and the colon’s ph.
The Truth is that the washing out of putrefied material in the large intestine, which is only partially reached in any colon session, increases the good intestinal flora. Good bacteria can only breed in a clean environment. Every time you clean out the putrefying garbage and make a better environment for the flora, they start to multiply immediately in their natural media. In addition, nutrients can be better absorbed in a clean environment than in a putrefied one.
Back to Top 27. I read about famous people doing this for weight loss? When you have a colonic, you are losing waste matter. Behind the scenes, I guarantee you these people are –for the most part– adhering to an excellent diet, and a consistent exercise program. Anything else –medication, drugs, whatever– will never pay off as a life style.
I have magnificent cleansing and weight loss programs where clients have lost and kept off 50 pounds and even more with Personalized Diets and more. Talk about Transformational. Talk about Epiphany. Talk about making my day! I want nothing more than your Radiant Health. Believe me. Radiant Health is an Inside Job!
Back to Top 28. Is it True: 45 pound colons for Elvis Presley & John Wayne? If Elvis were alive and answering that question on hindsight, he would make a joke, is my guess. But yes, they both had colons that weighed in the vicinity of 45 pounds. Elvis had the added horror of dying on the toilet constipated. I am certain that would not have been in the autopsy records. Probably something more like ‘liver failure’. Elvis, as everyone knows, was a big prescription drug addict and a notorious junk food eater. John Wayne was a big meat eater, smoker, and drinker. This does not impinge on any aspect of their humanity other than their suffering.
Back to Top 29. I am a woman. What if I’m having my period? No problem. It’ perfectly safe and beneficial to have a colonic during your period. In fact, some women find having a colonic at that time reduces the amount of menstrual discomfort experienced. In addition, a complete cleansing program can substantially reduce menstrual discomfort from that time on.
Back to Top 30. Will colonics help if I have been suffering from constipation for a long time? For those who suffer from constipation as “civilized man’s disease” (poor choice of diet), and for those who, through heredity, have a sluggish colon (i.e. slow peristalsis, atonic bowel), just know, this can be helped through colon hydrotherapy on a maintenance basis. An proper diet can save your life.
Often individuals with slow colons, because they are so watchful, have far better health than many. 100% very doable for both types of persons enduring constipation.
Back to Top 31. I am a long time laxative addict and abuser. Is there hope I might ever have regularity without them? Long term use of laxatives (even herbal laxatives like Cascara Sagrada, Senna, Turkey Rhubarb and Aloe), which are all irritants to the colon, weaken the colon disallowing good peristaltic action and easy bowel movements that come naturally. The colon experiences laxatives as irritants and will force contractions of the colon to get rid of the irritant and at the same time and almost by default move stool out of the body. Through long term use of laxatives the colon becomes exhausted and sluggish and often requires greater potency and frequency of laxatives to get the bowels moving.
It is a challenging situation, but not impossible. The initiative is breaking the addiction and dependency.
I have helped people through this. One woman was addicted to laxatives prescribed by her doctor, for 35 years. I put her on a program. She was a fastidious worker and she healed herself under my guidance.
Are you willing to do what it takes? If so, it is assuredly possible.
Back to Top 32. And what do we do when the session is over? I make recommendations based on the assessment of what I have learned about you. You are free to follow my recommendations on further colonics, dietary programs, herbs, etc. To follow them completely, in part or not is in your ball park. My responsibility is to impart knowledge from 28-plus years of experience. The rest is your choosing. I have every bit of information it takes to guide you to Radiant Health. No joke. And if it is a much larger issue, I know the people to send you to. My primary teacher, Gabriel Cousens www.treeoflife.nu always had the goal of cleaning people out and then seeing what was left to deal with. My modus operandi precisely!
Back to Top 33. And what can I expect after I leave? Most likely, you’ll feel great. Lighter and a sense of well-being. Any activity you would ordinarily be doing, such as work or exercise, is just fine to do. With persons who have been experiencing constipation over a period of time, the process could be highly beneficial to include a series of sessions, a diet geared toward elimination and your particular body type. Radiant health is 100% possible. The body has amazing rejuvenative powers.
Back to Top 34. What are the characteristics of a healthy colon? Healthy babies, animals and adults not subjected to the “refinements” of civilization (i.e. aboriginal peoples) have bowel movements shortly after each meal is eaten. So assuming there is sufficient fiber and water available to the colon, one characteristic is a bowel movement shortly after a meal is eaten. Once the urge to eliminate is honored by a trip to the toilet, the elimination should be easy and take no more than 10 seconds. The stool will be long, large in diameter, without offensive odor and breaks apart easily by the action of the water movement. As incredible as this may sound, if you have a proper “balanced” “elimination” diet, with a lot of raw foods and water at proper times, you will experience this. Try eating larger proportions of raw foods (balanced) see what happens.
Back to Top 35. Can I have a colonic if I am pregnant? During pregnancy, between the third and sixth month is the safest time for colon hydrotherapy. Miscarriage occurs most frequently during the first trimester, so wisdom dictates waiting. Peristaltic action slows between the third and sixth months, so constipation often occurs. Colon hydrotherapy may be of assistance.
I will not facilitate a session after the sixth month, as colon hydrotherapy could put pressure in the abdominal region and create too much discomfort.
Back to Top 36. Can a colonic make me constipated? If you have a slower moving colon, and then you come for a session and have excellent releasing, it is not so unusual that you would not have an elimination the following day. This does not mean you are constipated.
Back to Top 37. When am I clean enough to be finished with colon hydrotherapy? I’m smiling. When are you finished brushing your teeth? When are you finished good nutrition. When are you finished wanting energy, physical stamina, functioning body. When are you finished taking care of your car? When are you finished washing the outside of your body? When are you finished cleaning your home? When are you finished taking care of your eyes, your hearing, your heart, your lungs, your joints…Shall I go on? Radiant Health is an Inside Job! Transition from the Planet works. See what options they’ve got! Hugs.
Back to Top 38. What is it I should be looking for when choosing a Colon Hydrotherapist? Since getting a colonic is an intimate experience and is involved with emotional and mental releases as well as physical healing, you will do best working with someone with whom you can develop good rapport, and in whose environment you feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. Sensitivity, skill, knowledge, and experience are important to consider as they vary widely among therapists.
Back to Top 39. What’s the Colon Hydrotherapy Client & Hydrotherapist Population? It is estimated that there are many hundreds of colon hydrotherapists in the United States assisting hundreds of thousands of clients to enjoy the benefits of colon hydrotherapy. Many of these clients claim that due to colon hydrotherapy, they have been able to live their lives without drugs, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, and pain pills. In a society where Eastern and Western medicine combined to give us the best of both worlds, the acceptance of colon hydrotherapy has continued to grow with impressive results.

Back to Top 43. If you have an important question, I will place it here.
